Ive become a real fan of Australis products, they seem to offer real value for money, and their Go Long long wear lipstick range is no exception. With a creamy texture, yet very slightly matte appearance they are a great option for a long lasting lipstick. Now, they do not have the staying power and longevity of the LipVelour range, but they are a great alternative for those who aren’t fans of the extreme matte look lip colour. I have a few of these lipsticks and my intention is to keep adding to my collection. The below pics were taken after only one application of the shade ‘Uber Cool’. On an average day, I would definitely reapply once around lunchtime. If you’re after a nice lippy, with a nice price tag, check them out!
I’ve really gone all crazy on this one…TWO statement nails 😛 After getting into my amazing $12 Kmart PJs I was inspired by their pattern, the colours were pretty and fun…BOOM nail colour combo. Obviously adding more than one extra colour to your mani only increases the total time by the time it takes to open an extra bottle of polish…so super mummy friendly.
The colours I’ve used here are Australis in Peek-a-boo, OPI Liquid Sand in My Current Crush and MIKI Silver Glitter in No.20.
I hope you’ve also had a bit of fun with your mani this week…it’s the little things… 💅
Ever since I met my new neighbour a year ago…I pondered one question…how does she do her hair like that?!? Her high bun looked so full of volume and it was somewhat swept around, not just flopped over, but elegantly twisted. I scoured the net for how to’s but came up with nothing. So a year on I have finally mastered my neighbours hairdo! A lot of trial and error along the way, but I now have a go-to easy, chic look that takes all of 3 minutes to complete 😊 It seems so simple that I don’t know why it wasn’t immediately obvious, but in case you too are wondering how your neighbour does it, here is a quick visual tutorial! Or you could just go next door and ask your neighbour 😜😁😂
Note: the key to volume for those of us with fine hair is in the teasing. And in order to create a sweeping look, take small sections of hair and wrap them over to the opposite side, then pin.
Whoop whoop! This week was the final week of my ‘change it up’ hair challenge for the month of April. I can happily say I’ve tried some new styles, remembered some old goodies from days gone by (pre kids days!) and have taken five minutes each morning to actually consider how I would do my hair for that day. I’ve learned to look at my hair as an accessory to any outfit…and while the mum ponytail still has its place in my life, I can happily and easily change it up throughout the week too 🙂
Reclaiming pretty hair? Why yes I am!
This weeks styles…
A fishtail braid (or mermaid braid as I heard it called this week…so much prettier!):
A simple pony half pulled through with a leather look bow underneath (this added some good oomph to my fine hair too😊:
And running with the frizz…simple pinned back bangs…embracing the crazy volume lol:
In snapping these pics this month I’ve noticed something sad…I only ever wear the a SAME pair of earrings! Yes they are diamonds, but how boring! Surely I can add some variety into my earring-life…mission accepted! May…officially earring month for me!
I was introduced to Velourlips last year by my sister. Initially I was hesitant as the first edition colours were extremely bright and I was a little self conscious. But with the release of two more sets of colours since then (including muted shades) and my recent love of any and every bright lip colour, I’m an official convert. The colour payoff is intense, the staying power is beyond amazing, the range of shades allows most people to find a shade for them and most importantly they are INEXPENSIVE…budget conscious ladies rejoice 😉 They are only $15, with the colour and staying power of something three times the price.
They are a lip cream which goes on wet and dries matte, like mega matte. I’ve heard some people say they find them quite drying, but in my experience I apply a lip balm prior to the Velourlips and it’s all good! The main reason I like them and why I find them so freakin mummy-friendly is their longevity, through eating and drinking and over the course of the day, they just stay put! I wore this colour recently to a wedding with a cobalt blue dress (it was awesome if I do say so myself) and I got asked at least three times by friends mid-conversation, “Alasha, what is that lipstick? It doesn’t come off! It’s amazing!”. Now for me, that speaks volumes, when other women want to know the magical secret!
If you like the matte look, I highly reccomend you try these, I have a huge collection that I’ll swatch at a later date. But if you don’t like matte, then stay away, they probably aren’t for you! However Australis has another range of long wear lipsticks called Go Long, and they are also pretty amazing for staying power.
The pictured shade is Australis Velourlips in Shang-Hi!
Mummy-friendly rating: 8/10. If your bold enough to splash some serious colour over your lips, then this product will last through any play date and beyond!
I just adore the look of long layered necklaces. There is something feminine, chic and ‘easy’ about the way the look and what they add to an outfit.
My only barrier to wearing this look is a certain almost two year old and his grabby hands 😒 But today while I was out and about I came across a sale at Lovisa, where I was able to pick up these three necklaces for only $12NZD.
For this price I feel comfortable ‘experimenting’ with this cute look…if son number two gets a little grabby, it’s not too much money lost! Are there any other mums out there that successfully wear long layered necklaces? Give me some hope hehe! I’ll report back and let you know if it was a success for me!
Last week I visited the pharmacy after a visit to the doctors courtesy of Mr 1’s recurrent ear infections. Along with the prescription I picked up one of these Miki Big Lippy sticks (well actually I also picked up an eyeliner as it was any two Miki products for $8 – the standard Miki deal…but I’ll chat about that later). I picked this product for two main reasons, 1) a lipstick crayon would be super easy and quick to apply (mummy must #1) and it was so inexpensive (mummy must #2). The big question I had though is, would it last? No mum (or busy person in general) has the time to be reapplying lipstick or any sort of makeup at regular intervals over the day. Well it’s safe to say I was pleasantly surprised! It lasted well for about 4 hours including breakfast and lunch in between. The only downfall was that after a few hours it left my lips feeling a bit dry, but as a mum I always have PawPaw ointment in my nappy bag, so that was quickly fixed. I will definitely be purchasing more of these…no doubt the next time my son is under the weather 😉
