Mummy Mani

Im sharing the love this week with this cute little sweetheart inspired mani 🙂 I’ve used Revlon Top Speed, which I just can’t get enough of, the application, the colour pigment, the quick drying aspect and the longevity make this range one of my faves. If you haven’t checked out my review of the range, you can check it out under ‘Beauty’.

The lighter pink is ‘Cupid’ and the the hot pink is ‘Bubble’ 💅

I’ve really gone all crazy on this one…TWO statement nails 😛 After getting into my amazing $12 Kmart PJs I was inspired by their pattern, the colours were pretty and fun…BOOM nail colour combo. Obviously adding more than one extra colour to your mani only increases the total time by the time it takes to open an extra bottle of polish…so super mummy friendly.

The colours I’ve used here are Australis in Peek-a-boo, OPI Liquid Sand in My Current Crush and MIKI Silver Glitter in No.20.

I hope you’ve also had a bit of fun with your mani this week…it’s the little things… 💅

Mummy Mani

Just thought I’d pop up a quick pick of my manicure this week, and when I say ‘manicure’, I mean a quick slap on of nail polish while the boys were drinking their milk last night! I personally love seeing other peoples manicures as it acts as a great way to see swatches of nail polishes to add to my ‘I Want’ list. The ‘statement nail’ has got to be the easiest mummy-friendly nail trend to pull off, here is mine in ‘OPI Sparke de Triomphe’ paired with ‘Coral’ (I know, it’s not coral at all, it’s actually more fluoro orange, I was shocked when I read the name!) -a $2 bargain from Factorie. Here’s to imperfect mummy-nails and post milkies cuddles…the type that don’t smudge newly painted nails 😜

Review: Revlon Top Speed Nail Polish

Review: Revlon Top Speed Nail Polish

In my pre-mummy days I was pretty much obsessed with OPI nail polishes, my inventory was added to weekly. We all know how wonderful they are, but when I became a mum my nail polish applying time became pretty much close to 0. My needs changed and my new top priority in a nail polish was that it had to be applied and dried ASAP…enter Revlon Top Speed! Initially I was quite dubious, in the past I’d tried quick dry formulas and was largely dissapointed with how not-quick they dried, but in this product I am converted. The formula is easy to apply, you could easily get away with wearing only one thick layer, but I generally apply two thin coats.  It dries in around one minute – like actually dries and you can go do the dishes or whatever your heart desires! The colour pigment is exactly the same as what you see in the bottle which is always a bonus! And it is surprisingly long wearing. I apply and leave on for around a week, yes it will eventually chip, but I feel like for the little effort you put in with this polish, you get a surprising amount back. Interestingly I’ve found the darker shades tend to chip quicker…but maybe that’s just me? The below pics show its performance over a week period (Revlon Top Speed in Luxe Laque).

I have a little collection now growing alongside my old faves, OPI. There are a huge range available in a variety of great shades.  The only downside is that it still holds a higher price point than I would prefer of approx $17NZD. A bargain to me is under $10, so I generally purchase when they are on sale at my local department store, or when they come up on  NZ Sale which is surprisingly frequently! I’ve also seen them online at The Warehouse very reasonably priced, however they only have a limited selection.

How do I rate it?
