Over the past few weeks I’ve been wearing these long necklaces and often layering them for effect. They look great and really add something extra to an otherwise plain outfit. As far as wearing them in Mummy-land goes, it’s been a relative success. None have broken, despite the odd snag on things…including my sons ears and getting looped over his head during a snuggle hehe! They have been entertaining for him while sitting on my lap too! I think the key is to wear them long enough that they have a little leeway and are not so easily tugged and broken, as might be the case with a mid length necklace. Either way, by picking them up cheap enough like I did at Lovisa, your assured to not be in tears if the worst happens 😉
Here’s a few examples of how I wore them, give them a go mamas, you might be pleasantly surprised 😊
Im sharing the love this week with this cute little sweetheart inspired mani 🙂 I’ve used Revlon Top Speed, which I just can’t get enough of, the application, the colour pigment, the quick drying aspect and the longevity make this range one of my faves. If you haven’t checked out my review of the range, you can check it out under ‘Beauty’.
The lighter pink is ‘Cupid’ and the the hot pink is ‘Bubble’ 💅
Ive become a real fan of Australis products, they seem to offer real value for money, and their Go Long long wear lipstick range is no exception. With a creamy texture, yet very slightly matte appearance they are a great option for a long lasting lipstick. Now, they do not have the staying power and longevity of the LipVelour range, but they are a great alternative for those who aren’t fans of the extreme matte look lip colour. I have a few of these lipsticks and my intention is to keep adding to my collection. The below pics were taken after only one application of the shade ‘Uber Cool’. On an average day, I would definitely reapply once around lunchtime. If you’re after a nice lippy, with a nice price tag, check them out!
And a belated Happy Mothers Day to all those Pretty Little Mamas out there. My husband and boys did very well this year and I had a lovely day, I hope you did too!
In my former life, the one where there were no children and I had all the time in the world to spend on me, myself and I, I wore different earings everyday. Every. Single. Day. In fact, when teaching a class of five year olds about acrostic poetry, they decided to include ‘earings’ for the ‘E’ in a poem using my last name…I was secretly glad they had taken notice of my accessorising 😉
Nowadays I still have a ton of earings, but I only wear one pair. They are a pair of the most gorgeous diamonds bought for me by my husband…also in a time when there were no kids and we had money! So perhaps I could be forgiven, but seriously…I could change it up just a little bit couldn’t I?
Being a mum, earings can be a little troublesome, the long chandelier numbers I used to wear are just not appropriate…or safe if I value my earlobes with a one year old around! So studs are the obvious choice. With this in mind I popped into Kmart this week and picked up two packs of earings for $4…yes, $4!
My mission is to add a bit of ‘pretty’ into my life with these cheap gems! I’ve had fun this week pairing them up with outfits and enjoying my children gently run their little fingers over them, even they have taken note of the little change!
My favourite has been the pairing of a denim shirt with these mint green rose buds…the colour combo just ‘worked’.
Earings, a super simple, cheap and fun way to add a bit of pretty back into mummy life 😘
I’ve really gone all crazy on this one…TWO statement nails 😛 After getting into my amazing $12 Kmart PJs I was inspired by their pattern, the colours were pretty and fun…BOOM nail colour combo. Obviously adding more than one extra colour to your mani only increases the total time by the time it takes to open an extra bottle of polish…so super mummy friendly.
The colours I’ve used here are Australis in Peek-a-boo, OPI Liquid Sand in My Current Crush and MIKI Silver Glitter in No.20.
I hope you’ve also had a bit of fun with your mani this week…it’s the little things… 💅
Ever since I met my new neighbour a year ago…I pondered one question…how does she do her hair like that?!? Her high bun looked so full of volume and it was somewhat swept around, not just flopped over, but elegantly twisted. I scoured the net for how to’s but came up with nothing. So a year on I have finally mastered my neighbours hairdo! A lot of trial and error along the way, but I now have a go-to easy, chic look that takes all of 3 minutes to complete 😊 It seems so simple that I don’t know why it wasn’t immediately obvious, but in case you too are wondering how your neighbour does it, here is a quick visual tutorial! Or you could just go next door and ask your neighbour 😜😁😂
Note: the key to volume for those of us with fine hair is in the teasing. And in order to create a sweeping look, take small sections of hair and wrap them over to the opposite side, then pin.
Whoop whoop! This week was the final week of my ‘change it up’ hair challenge for the month of April. I can happily say I’ve tried some new styles, remembered some old goodies from days gone by (pre kids days!) and have taken five minutes each morning to actually consider how I would do my hair for that day. I’ve learned to look at my hair as an accessory to any outfit…and while the mum ponytail still has its place in my life, I can happily and easily change it up throughout the week too 🙂
Reclaiming pretty hair? Why yes I am!
This weeks styles…
A super easy loop that was a fresh twist on a low bun:
A fishtail braid (or mermaid braid as I heard it called this week…so much prettier!):
A simple pony half pulled through with a leather look bow underneath (this added some good oomph to my fine hair too😊:
And running with the frizz…simple pinned back bangs…embracing the crazy volume lol:
In snapping these pics this month I’ve noticed something sad…I only ever wear the a SAME pair of earrings! Yes they are diamonds, but how boring! Surely I can add some variety into my earring-life…mission accepted! May…officially earring month for me!
